Bound Stems "The Logic Of Building The Body Plan" (Flameshovel)

Been kicking an EP by a band called Bound Stems lately. I remember downloading some earlier tracks by these guys a while back after reading some complimentary reviews. The earlier songs showed definite promise but as with so many young bands, they seemed to lack the fully formed ideas of what they were shooting for in their music. While I still don't think this new EP shows the band to have reached their full potential, it does show a great deal of growth. I imagine Bound Stems will have their full length debut ready for release sometime next year. I have a feeling that if the band continues to progress and someone over at Pitchfork latches on to them they could be on to big things. They actually remind me of a another big Pitchfork phenomenon, Menomena. Other comparisons could range all the way from Spoon to The Dismemberment Plan. Watch out for these boys.

RIYL: Menomena, The Dismemberment Plan, Spoon
