While I was less than fully enamored with Free Diamonds' There Should Be More Dancing album about a month ago when I reviewed it, I did state that I felt the band would be great live. Not to boast, but I was certainly right in that assertion. Playing to a small crowd at New Brookland Tavern here in Columbia, SC, the English boys ripped through a short set that had many in the audience following the advice of the band's album title. The band's music is definitely more suited for the live environment and has caused me to go back to the album with renewed enthusiasm. Opening band, Forsake Ya To The Snakes, from Milwaukee were damn good as well. The band plays jagged, yet catchy, post-punk in the vein of Les Savy Fav. Good stuff all the way around.
