Dan Snaith’s career began under the Manitoba moniker until he was forced to change for legal reasons a few years ago. This is Snaith’s second official title under the Caribou name. Snaith did a peculiar thing when forced to change monikers…he changed directions as well. While the similarities are certainly prevalent, Caribou has more of a band feel where actual songs are created. For me, Manitoba always felt like a collection of beautiful sounds instead. Snaith also sings a great deal more under the Caribou name. On Andorra, he finally breaks through with an album strong on songs and sounds. With Snaith, genres are meaningless. His songs float through many realms while still maintaining a brilliant uniformity. While I may not reach for Andorra often, when I do, it is certainly a blissful experience.
