- Man, I forgot just how great The Van Pelt’s Sultans Of Sentiment still is. Hard to believe this album came out eleven years ago…I feel old. For fans of Pavement, Karate, Les Savy Fav and Sonic Youth.

this is easily one of the best albums ever made. although strangely, i like none of the bands you suggest it is for fans of.
not even karate? you are a strange one andy!
never really ‘got’ them!
Definitely one of my favorite records ever. Not sure if I agree with other bands either…but then again, I can’t think of anything better. Karate certainly resides under the same umbrella.
Check out Signal To Trust, the modern day equivalent of The Van Pelt: http://www.myspace.com/signaltotrust
signal to trust kind of went weird on ‘golden armor’, but the first lp and 7″ are definitely good uns.
i always get signal to trust and the hidden chord mixed up. they shared members maybe? both bands were in the same territory…very good stuff!
another similarity i don’t hear, sorry!
it does appear that someone from that band is in signal to trust though. the hidden chord were ex-ordination of aaron. woo!
