Who? Mourning District

What do they sound like? Nada Surf cheating on Death Cab For Cutie with Jimmy Eat World!? Yeah, that sounds about right. I believe I ran across Mourning District in the barren wasteland that is Myspace of all places. Recently, the band was cool enough to send me demos of ten songs (they have yet to have a proper release). I must admit I was left a bit floored by what I heard. It is a bit difficult to figure out where Mourning District’s niche will be. I think the band has definite potential for mass appeal and if there is any justice in the world, these guys would be swiped up by a mid to large sized indie label any day now. The quality of the band’s songwriting is top-notch and apparent from the very beginning. I am not exaggerating when I say that Mourning District’s pop chops belong side by side with the three bands mentioned above. If you like your indie rock with melodies galore, I suggest you check Mourning District out ASAP!
