“I Want You To Know” comes from Dinosauar Jr’s upcoming album, Farm, which is out on Jagjaguwar in June. I saw the band last weekend and they were incredibly loud and incredibly awesome! I’m quite sure this song was on the setlist.

Before a physical release, Touch Committee has put their awesome debut album, Winter Beard, up for download on Emusic, Amazon, Itunes, etc. It’s well worth it and one of my favorites of 2009 so far. Review upcoming.
Update: I forgot to mention how much I freaking love this album cover!

You can download The Winter Sound’s new album, Church of The Haunted South, right now before its physical release. Just go here and support a band that spends their life on the road.

I found Shelflife courtesy of a cool new site called Cementing The Seams. Take a look around…some great stuff. Anyway, this Denmark band has their debut LP up for free download and it is well worth a listen. The band plays a brand of dark, mathy and meaty instrumental rock that is all over the map but in a really awesome way. It makes comparisons quite difficult but sometimes that is a wonderful thing. And also, I just noticed Jonathan over at Built On A Weak Spot has covered the band (of course) as well. He is certainly right when he says these guys are for fans of Midwestern rock. So, there you go, two great sites and one great band. Enjoy!

This is rather odd since just this past weekend some friends and I wondered aloud what Blake Schwarzenbach (Jawbreaker, Jets To Brazil) was up to musically, if anything. From a recent Jawbreaker myspace update, Schwarzenbach had this to say:
“Musically, and I think maybe I can speak more clearly about this, I feel as though I am emerging from a kind of muted, reflective nuclear winter. It’s awkward to talk about one’s own music since that is what we ask the music to do; so I’ll say only that it meets my own inner-standard of truth. I believe in it enough to overcome my own fear of making it. Hopefully we’ll find a bassist (a woman, over 30, who rides a bike and can resolve any dictionary disputes that might arise between the drummer and myself) and come to a town near you.”
Yes! I think I will go listen to some Jets To Brazil now! Thanks to What We Hate for the original heads up! Oh, and that cartoon is Mitch Clem of course.

Just got the new self-released record from The New Trust in the mail earlier this week and it really is a beautiful package. This is the band’s follow up to 2007’s Dark Is The Path Which Lies Before Us. The New Trust are one of those “hard-to-explain” bands. I’m not sure how a band can be described as tuneful and difficult at the same time but The New Trust seem to pull it off. Paired down to a three piece, the band continues to intrigue on Get Vulnerable. You can order the album directly from the band on either CD or 12″ white vinyl (with the CD inside). Plus it’s also on iTunes.

The new Jealous Sound EP, Got Friends, is finally up on Itunes. I downloaded it last night. It sure is great to hear Blair Shehan’s voice once again. His previous band, Knapsack, as well as The Jealous Sound, are two of my all time favorites! Got Friends contains three new songs with two unecessary remixes. But, I’ll take what I can get. This is the band’s first release since the amazing Kill Them With Kindness which came out in 2003.

Definitely one of my all time favorite bands, Appleseed Cast, are thankfully still with us. After every release I worry that it might be the band’s last. But, supposedly a new album by the name of Sagarmatha is in the works. I would guess this will be a Spring 2009 release. The band has posted two new demos, “A Bright Light” and “Summer Before”, to their myspace page. “A Bright Life” is a 7 minute behemoth and I’m loving it!
This is The Appleseed Cast’s follow up to 2006’s wonderful Peregrine which I reviewed here.
My Beartrap PR partner/head man, Chuck, is working with a band called Tigers Jaw (they don’t like apostrophes apparently). And man, I am totally jealous that I did not find this band first. Tigers Jaw is amazing…summer time jams in the highest regard! But, I can not for the life of me think of many reference points. Any Ideas? Please help!?
Either way though, this is a fantastic album! Check out two tracks below. You can pre-order it here.

The Winter Sounds are recording their new album as I type this. Here is a new song called “Trophy Wife”. Unmixed and unmastered yet still another winner from the band with a thousand hooks!
Tuscaloosa, Alabama’s The Dexateens are giving away their new album for free for a limited time. All ya gotta do is go here to get your filthy hands on it. We all need a little more twang in our lives. So, don’t go breaking their Tuscaloosa hearts! Get on it!
