- Man, I can’t even believe we are in October already. This year has gone by in a whirlwind and I feel like I’ve been a useless bystander for most of it. I have finally been able to dive back into listening to a ton of music lately and it’s been cathartic to say the least. SAL should be consistently updated here in the near future. Thanks for hanging around in the lean times.
- I’m rather fascinated by the simplicity and ease of Tumblr. If the application wasn’t in such the beginning stages (no comments, no importing of blogs from other formats), I might think of moving SAL completely over. Right now I run on Wordpress but Tumblr is intriguing especially for the time-crunched person. I’ll be fooling around with some Wordpress themes that run on the ideas of Tumblr so SAL might be changing around a little bit. (Edit – Dave from If You Make It has informed me that both comments and importing can be done. Looks like I might be moving over to Tumblr soon afterall!)
Also, here are a few sites that have been keeping me occupied lately:
- The seminal site that really should need no introduction, Collective Zine, continues to plug along. Andy and the gang have been going since 1997 (had Al Gore even invented the internet yet?). I think everybody (including myself) thought they were dead as 2007 rolled along with little to no updates. But, thankfully they have returned better than ever in 2008!
- Can You See The Sunset is a site I always look to when thinking about the direction I want SAL to go. I’m trying to model my review writing after Eric, not too short but never too long. CYSTS remains one of my daily checks.
- Adam over at Dryvetyme Onlyne is one of my favorite writers. He has a ton of Austin City Limits coverage up on the site right now to study up on.
- Also, check out a What We Hate, a very cool blog I have just discovered and enjoyed thoroughly of late. Bryne does an excellent job and updates a ton.
