Band Spotlight: Cloud Mouth

Who? Cloud Mouth

Where are they from? Chicago, IL

What do they sound like? Noise rock with daggers of melody crudely being tossed at you while you run screaming like a little girl in the other direction. Ok, so maybe it has been somewhat difficult to find a proper comparison for Cloud Mouth. That usually means good things though. The band plays a dirty brand of noise rock that is noticeably dark but also strikingly melodic. I keep coming back to the first Euclid record, The Wind Blew All the Fires Out, when listening to Cloud Mouth. That album was truly unique at the time and I feel that Cloud Mouth are pushing in those same directions. Add in some mathy Drive Like Jehu tendencies as well as some Dischord influences and you have a behemoth of despair and fury on your hands. Yeah, it really is that good.
